Our Program

Various teaching techniques are used to help the behaviour, language and communication skills of children with autism. Our comprehensive program includes specialized therapies, remedial teaching, and enriching activities designed to support every child's development journey.

Behavioral Therapy

Early intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has proven to be a successful strategy for remediating many difficulties experienced by children with autism. The particular pattern of symptoms seen in a 2-year-old with ASD may differ from that seen at the age of 4 or 5 years, making early diagnosis essential.

At Prasanna Autism Centre, we use standardized assessment instruments like the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2). During these assessments, our therapists interact directly with children through social and play activities, observing their responses to their name and performance in imaginary play.

Our therapists carefully observe both verbal and nonverbal communication, looking for specific characteristics of autism spectrum disorder, such as difficulty with age-appropriate social interaction, circumscribed interests, or repetitive behaviors. This comprehensive evaluation helps us create personalized intervention strategies.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is a central part of treatment for autism, helping children to communicate and interact with others effectively. At PAC, we focus on both verbal and non-verbal communication skills, particularly for children in the Early Intervention group (below 8 years of age).

  • Development of essential skills like eye contact, turn-taking in conversations, and understanding gestures
  • Use of Avaz AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) app for non-verbal children
  • Interactive iPad apps for word and symbol combination practice

Occupational Therapy (OT)

Our Occupational Therapy program helps autistic children improve cognitive, physical, social, and motor skills. The goal is to enhance everyday skills that allow them to become more independent and participate in a wide range of activities.

At Prasanna Autism Centre, our therapists begin by evaluating each child's current abilities, including how they learn, play, care for themselves, and interact with their environment. Based on this evaluation, we create personalized goals and strategies.

  • Daily living skills: dressing, eating, grooming, and bathroom independence
  • Gross motor activities: running, walking backwards, tricycle riding, and vestibular movements
  • Fine motor skills development through specialized exercises and activities

Extra-Curricular Activities

Enriching Activities

At Prasanna, we believe in a holistic approach to development. Our dedicated team of specialists in art, music, and dance works towards enhancing the extra-curricular skills of our students, providing important therapeutic benefits while creating enjoyable learning experiences.

Music and Dance Therapy

Music, Tabla and Dance Therapy

Understanding that autistic children need emotional outlets, we begin with simple instrument play like drums or tabla. As children develop interest and comfort with human contact, we gradually introduce singing and dancing lessons.

Our dance therapy program uses movement for emotional and physical integration, incorporating activities like mirroring, improvisation, and body rhymes. These exercises build self-confidence and provide new ways for children to express themselves and share their thoughts through movement.

Exercise, Yoga, and Physical Activities

Physical exercise is an essential part of our daily curriculum, helping children better engage with their environment while promoting overall health and well-being. Our program includes treadmill training, cycling, and yoga sessions.

These full-body exercises are carefully designed to enhance coordination, strength, and endurance. Through regular practice, children develop better body awareness, improved visual-motor skills, and stronger postural control, all of which contribute to their overall development.

Sensory Garden

Sensory Garden

Our specially designed sensory garden provides a unique therapeutic environment that stimulates all five senses: sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound. Through carefully selected plants and materials, we've created a safe and engaging space for sensory exploration.

This natural setting helps children develop sensory processing skills while providing a calming environment for learning and growth. The garden serves as both an educational tool and a peaceful retreat where children can connect with nature at their own pace.

Remedial Teaching

Our remedial teaching program focuses on building fundamental interaction skills and pre-academic abilities through a combination of one-on-one sessions and group activities. This dual approach helps develop both individual capabilities and social skills.

As children progress, they learn independent work habits and behaviors that prepare them for vocational skills. Our comprehensive approach integrates music therapy, computer-based learning, and sensory integration techniques to create an effective learning environment.

Field Trips

Field Trips

Regular field trips are an integral part of our program, offering children valuable experiences beyond the classroom. These outdoor activities play a crucial role in bridging gaps in communication, social skills, and sensory processing.

Each trip is carefully planned to provide enriching and engaging experiences that help children connect with the world around them. These real-world interactions create natural opportunities for practicing social skills and building confidence in different environments.
